Crossing the Davis Strait to Baffin Island, we visited the Inuit village of Qikiqtarjuaq, where we were warmly welcomed. The village, named after the nearby Qikiqtarjuaq Island, is known for its proximity to marine wildlife, including bowhead whales. Here, we witnessed the traditional lighting of the quilik, a ceremonial oil lamp that has provided light and warmth for centuries in this Arctic region. The resilience of the Inuit people, living in harmony with this harsh landscape, was deeply moving​.
