Nunavut, Canada: Bears, Explorers and Inuit
We crossed the Davis Strait and visited: Qikiqtarjuaq, Home Bay, Baffin Island, Quernbiter Fjord and Pond Inlet. We went into Lancaster Sound and the Parry Channel. We visited Bylot Island, Dundas Harbour, Port Leopold, Port Leopold Island, Beechey Island and Radstock Bay. Following Amundsen's route we went Prince Rupert Inlet and with the proper tide entered Bellot Strait. We took time to set our feet upon the northern-most point of the North American Continent, Zenith Point. After passing through Bellot Strait we headed south along the eastern side of Prince William Island. We stopped at Rae's Point in Rae Strait. The Franklin Expedition sailed to Prince William Island from the north and went on the west side of the Island with disastrous consequences. We knew from satellite imagery that our course was free from ice. We ended this part of our journey with an impromptu memorial service at Terror Bay above the shipwreck of the HMS Terror.
