Our journey concluded in Nome, Alaska, also known as Sitrjasuaq,a a town rich with history from the Gold Rush era of the early 1900s. Nome is known for the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, which finishes here. We talked with a musher and met his husky dogs. After spending time visiting local museum and the historic town center, we witnessed an unexpected sight: muskox grazing in the town cemetery. We headed to the airport and flew to Anchorage. After eating dinner with some shipmates, we realized our trip was over.
